Lady Wildcats Win Big Against Calhoun

The Bishop State women's basketball team put together a strong all-around performance Thursday evening, defeating Calhoun Community College 85–59 at home. The Wildcats set the tone early and never looked back, using balanced scoring and defensive pressure to build momentum throughout the game. After holding a slim two-point lead at the end of the first quarter, Bishop State exploded offensively in the second period, outscoring Calhoun 28–13 to take firm control heading into halftime.
Bishop State's offensive depth was on full display as five players finished in double figures. Cristyle Mauldin led the Wildcats with 17 points, providing a spark with her shooting and energy on both ends of the floor. Teralyn Hill added 16 points and controlled the paint with a team-high 10 rebounds, while LaMerrica Johnson contributed 15 points and was aggressive attacking the basket. Jayah Jones scored 14 points, knocking down key free throws and facilitating the offense, and Trinity Braggs chipped in 10 points to round out the balanced scoring effort.
The Wildcats continued to apply pressure in the second half, maintaining their defensive intensity and winning the rebounding battle 44–23. Bishop State closed the game strong with a 25-point fourth quarter, preventing any comeback attempts and sealing the decisive victory. With the win, the Wildcats continue to build confidence as they move forward in conference play, showcasing the depth, chemistry, and defensive effort that have become trademarks of this team. With the victory over Calhoun, the Lady Wildcats move to 4-3 in conference and are currently sitting in third place. They will return to play Thursday, February 12th at Wallace State in Hanceville, Alabama.
